Position:                   Account Executive – WXXI Media Sales

Division:                    Sales & Marketing

Classification:        Full-time, exempt

Reports to:              Sales Manager

 

Account Executive

The Account Executive is responsible for all aspects of generating underwriting revenue at WXXI Public Broadcasting, e.g., securing new funders and renewing current funders to meet revenue goals for all WXXI programming and related services, including the following:

  • WXXI TV:  Channel 21 (Cable 11)
  • Radio:            WXXI AM 1370 – NPR News & Talk

WXXI FM 91.5 – Classical Music
WRUR FM 88.5 – NPR News/Adult Album Alternative Music
WEOS FM 89.7 – NPR News & Talk, Geneva
WITH FM 90.1 – Adult Album Alternative Music/News & Talk, Ithaca
WXXI Reachout Radio

  • WXXI Program Listings print guide
  • The Little Theatre
  • Special Events


Position Responsibilities:

  • Secure new funders for WXXI’s programming and services listed above, and renew and increase funding levels of current clients to meet revenue goals.
  • Prepare written and in-person presentations designed to meet prospect needs and resources, and to encourage a renewed and increased funding commitment from current clients.
  • Identify and execute appropriate prospect and client cultivation that results in sales closure.
  • Work with prospects/clients and internal WXXI staff to prepare effective and acceptable TV and radio underwriting announcements.
  • Work with sales team to develop and share sales materials.
  • Generate contracts, billing summaries, traffic orders for closed sales.
  • Communicate activities and results to manager and sales team via weekly reporting.
  • Assist and participate in other development, marketing and station-related activities, such as WXXI’s Open House, the WXXI Auction, WXXI-sponsored events and other events, as required.
  • Continuously look for ways to refine and enhance support systems such as traffic, billing, contact management system (ACT), Arbitron, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications preferred.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of WXXI products
  • Sales experience in public broadcasting, other media, or intangibles
  • Familiarity with traffic software (Allegiance and ProTrack), research software (Arbitron, Nielsen, Media Audit), and contact management software (ACT!)
