JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title:          Auction Relationship Development Associate
Reports to:               Auction & Station Events Manager          
Division:                   Individual Giving                 
Status:                      Part-Time, Non-Exempt (25 hours/week – September-May)
                                                                                                                       

JOB SUMMARY:
Increase the fundraising capacity of WXXI’s Annual Auction by maintaining and growing existing donor relationships, identifying and successfully cultivating new donor relationships resulting in increased acquisitions and gross auction revenue. This will be accomplished, in part, by accurate data entry, timely acknowledgement of participants and delivery of donated goods.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develops a list of prospective donors from resource material, company records and personal community connections.
  2. Calls or receives calls from current and prospective donors.
  3. Cultivate relationships with new and current donors. Leverage that relationship to secure contributions using knowledge of the auction and corresponding benefits to donors.
  4. Maintains accurate and timely records of communications with donors, including timelines for follow-up.
  5. Accurate and timely entry of data regarding donors and contributions into Allegiance.
  6. Prepare weekly report of activities. Regularly review progress with Auction manager.
  7. Help with Auction logistics, including preparation of warehouse, certificate filing system, Auction store and item pick-up.
  8. Conduct follow-up to ensure that there is complete information for online listing and delivery of items is completed.
  9. Prepare timely acknowledgments of the gifts.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. May be required to pick up merchandise that has been donated.
  2. May be asked to meet in-person with donors to solicit contributions.
  3. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Friendly, persuasive manner, especially on the telephone.
  2. Comfortable soliciting in-kind donations, including cold calling.
  3. Knowledge of fundraising or experience in event planning, particularly in the nonprofit sector.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft office suite, familiarity with online auctions, knowledge of social media.
  5. Dependable team player, interest in Public Media preferred
  6. Clean driver’s license
