POSITION:                             Auction and Station Events Manager

DIVISION:                              Individual Giving

REPORTS TO:                      Assistant Vice President, Individual Giving

CLASSIFICATION:                Exempt, full-time

JOB SUMMARY
Primary responsibility for coordination and execution of WXXI fundraising events including the WXXI Auction, evaluating, designing and implementing new fundraising projects compatible with the mission of WXXI, meeting net revenue goals and improving WXXI community relationships through public interactions. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
           

  1. Take responsibility for the coordination and implementation of station events.
  1. Prepare annual budget and monitor expenses for both Auction and Events.
  1. Prepare weekly reports during Auction solicitation months for both the AVP and Director of Finance.
  1. Supervise Auction telemarketing, manage the volunteer Auction staff and solicit donations of goods and services.
  1. Create and oversee implementation of a marketing plan (broadcast, public appearances, direct email, print and Web) for Auction working with the Creative Services Department.  The plan must incorporate strategies to reach financial and merchandise goals, encourage auction donations, bidding and create widespread awareness. 
  1. Oversee all technical aspects of Auction including computer-related issues pertaining to database integrity and Web site appearance, support and function
  1. Coordinate broadcast operations for on-air kick-off and interstitial promotions.  Meet regularly with production staff.
  1. Represent WXXI at meetings and community gatherings, as assigned.
  1. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:      Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
                                                           
EXPERIENCE

  • Prior experience with event management and coordination. 
  • Marketing background is essential
  • Knowledge of public broadcasting a plus
  • Minimum three years’ management experience in a community fundraising position is preferred.

  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule to include evening and weekend hours, as needed
