POSITION:                         Little Theatre Public Relations Coordinator – Part-Time
DIVISION:                         Little Theatre
REPORTS TO:                     Little Theatre General Manager and WXXI Creative Director
CLASSIFICATION:              Part-Time, Non-Exempt (20-25 hours per week)


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Scope

Reporting to the Little Theatre’s General Manager and WXXI’s Creative Director, the Little Theatre Public Relations Coordinator will be responsible for the promotion, community relations, and visibility of the Little Theatre. This individual will contribute to the overall accessibility of information through social media, web site promotion and other online and electronic conventions. Ultimately, we are looking for an individual who will embrace all of what the Little Theatre does (films, events, Café, music and artists) and efficiently promote them to the community. We are looking to build the awareness of the Little’s offerings, increase attendance and help grow membership through effective promotion.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Cultivate media and community relationships to raise awareness of the films, special events, and café music and artists.
  2. Maintain and manage the Little Theatre’s social media sites, which currently include Facebook and Twitter, while exploring new areas of social media to utilize.
  3. Write effective press releases, manage the online pressroom, and prepare background information for media.
  4. Oversee website content to make sure it’s up to date and relevant, as well as contribute content to the site.
  5. Coordinate, write, and distribute the weekly eNewsletter, as well as email blasts.
  6. Update and co-ordinate on-line and print calendars of media outlets that promote the Little’s showtimes, events and music performers.
  7. Respond to requests from media for information on films and special events, as well as interviews with staff.
  8. Manage an advertising budget, coordinate media buys, and develop opportunities for media sponsorships.
  9. Write copy for brochures, flyers, and other promotional materials.
  10. Coordinate design and distribution of supporting promotional materials for Little Theatre and Little Café’s films, events and performances.
  11. Work with WXXI Creative Director on crossover promotional activities at the Little Theatre for WXXI’s programming and outreach activities.
  12. Identify creative and innovative ways to promote the Little Theatre.
  13. Be an active participant in the events that are promoted.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or equivalent experience.
Previous theatre, or not-for-profit experiences are definite assets.
Knowledge and demonstrated experience with online social media and communication tools (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube, etc.) including extensive experience with electronic communication (Constant Contact) and Web site interaction and posting.

Ability to work independently as well as with a team. Possess strong organizational, process, project and time management skills. Be able to manage multiple, time-sensitive projects with attention to detail and communication with individuals.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
