JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION:                            PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

DIVISION:                              Television Division

REPORTS TO:                     Facilities & Production Manager

CLASSIFICATION:               Casual, Non-Exempt

HOURS:                                Up to 20 hours per week, schedule 24/7, varies according to department needs.

DUTIES:

1.         Operate all equipment required for broadcast and multimedia production. This includes studio and field cameras, teleprompter, audio board, character generator, still store, switcher, lighting equipment, light boards, patch panels, routers, vtrs, digital storage, playback, and editing systems; also multimedia platforms and applications such as Drupal and Flash.

2.         Assist in the preparation for both television and radio studio and field productions, including construction, set-up, operation, and strike.

3.         Maintain television equipment and areas, including first line maintenance and cleaning of studios and equipment.

4.         Assist in the pre-production, production, and post-production of broadcast and non-broadcast events, and in the delivery of content to multiple platforms, including the web and social media sites.

5.         Understand the normal operations of master control, including following a program log, recording program material from satellite and other sources, preparation of on-air materials, and playlist management.

6.         Drive company vehicles as requested and assist in the care and front line maintenance of these vehicles.

7.         Serve as a member of the production team filling various duties as assigned.

 

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED:             High School. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:           Minimum one-year digital broadcast television experience. Radio and multimedia, new media, or website experience preferred.

EQUIPMENT SKILLS:                     Working knowledge of equipment used in digital television production; basic computer skills required; familiarity with multiple computer applications and experience in new media applications preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:            Valid NYS driver’s license. Flexibility of schedule is required for this position.
                                                            Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays at various locations. Ability to lift 60lbs. Eyesight correctable to 20/20.
                                                            Must be able to work on ladders and other forms of production rigging.
