Job Description


Position:                   Development Associate – WITH/WEOS Media Sales & Fundraising

Division:                    Sales & Marketing / Individual Giving

Classification:        Full-Time, Exempt

Reports to:              WXXI Director of Sales & Marketing / Asst. VP Individual Giving



The Development Associate is responsible for all aspects of generating revenue at WITH & WEOS, e.g., securing new individual and corporate supporters and renewing and cultivating current supporters to meet revenue goals for all programming and related services, including the following:

  • Radio:            WEOS FM 89.7 – NPR News & Talk, Geneva

WITH FM 90.1 – Adult Album Alternative Music/News & Talk, Ithaca

  • WITH & WEOS online/digital

Position Responsibilities:

  • Secure new funders for WITH & WEOS’s programming and services listed above, and renew and increase funding levels of current clients to meet revenue goals.
  • Prepare written and in-person presentations designed to meet prospect needs and resources, and to encourage a renewed and increased funding commitment from current clients.
  • Identify and execute appropriate prospect, client and member cultivation that result in financial commitments.
  • Work with prospects/clients and internal staff to prepare effective and acceptable radio underwriting announcements.
  • Work with sales team to develop and share sales materials.
  • Generate contracts, billing summaries, traffic orders for closed sales.
  • Communicate activities and results to managers via weekly reporting.
  • Assist and participate in development, marketing and station-related activities as required.
  • The WITH/WEOS Development Associate will work closely with the Assistant Vice President for Individual Giving to create strategies that will help grow WXXI membership revenues in the Finger Lakes. 
  • Develop a prospect base through research, cultivation and stewardship of individuals and businesses.
  • Plan and manage the Development budget.
  • Plan and execute cultivation events.
  • Represent stations at select events.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications preferred.

  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of WITH & WEOS
  • Experience in public broadcasting, other media, or intangibles
  • Experience in not-for-profit fundraising
  • Familiarity with interactive databases, research software, and contact management software
