August Family Foundation Awards WXXI Reachout Radio with $5,000 Grant July 25, 2005 (Rochester, NY) – Reachout Radio, WXXi’s 24-hour radio reading service for people who have an inability to read or use standard printed materials as a result of a physical, visual or reading disability, has received a grant of $5,000 from the Charles J. and Burton S. August Family Foundation. The grant will be used to purchase a customized computer workstation equipped with the ENCO digital audio processing system and basic office programs that are accessible for WXXI’s radio board operator Andy Shields, who is blind. ### WXXI is an essential, lifelong educational resource for the Greater Rochester area.
