WXXI’S BOARD OF TRUSTEES ELECTS TWO NEW MEMBERS

August 29, 2006 (Rochester, NY) – WXXI Public Broadcasting Council’s Board of Trustees recently elected Karen R. Rulison and Tony Tortorella as new members.

Karen R. Rulison is a social worker for the Rochester City School District, where she provides group and individual counseling sessions and crisis intervention. Prior to working with the city school district, Karen was a social worker at Genesee Hospital. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from SUNY Brockport and a Masters of Social Work from Marywood College in Scranton, PA. In addition to serving on WXXI’s Board of Directors, Rulison is also a member of the National Association of Social Workers, a national and local member of PKU Parents Association and a former board member of the Girl Scouts of Genesee Valley.

Tony Tortorella is currently the Vice President of Sales for the Human Resource Services (HRS) division of Paychex, Inc., a leading provider of payroll and HR services for small and medium-sized businesses across the U.S. He is responsible for the company’s HRS product line, which includes 401(K) recordkeeping and employee handbooks, among other products. He leads the sales operation for Paychex Premiersm Human Resources, an administrative service organization (ASO), and Paychex Business Solutions (PBS), a professional employer organization (PEO). Tortorella also oversees the sales and distribution of insurance products through Paychex Agency, Inc. Tortorella’s career accomplishments at Paychex include playing a key role in developing and founding the company’s National Sales Support division, which now includes more than 160 telephone salespeople. Today, Tortorella is responsible for a division sales force of over 500 professionals, generating HRS revenue of $325 million during fiscal 2006. Tortorella joined Paychex in 1987 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from St. John Fisher College.
