WXXI PRESENTS THE 6TH ANNUAL SPEAKING OF WOMEN’S HEALTH CONFERENCE ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2008
Tickets Go On Sale July 17, And Go Fast
Rochester, New York (July 8, 2008) – Tickets for the Speaking of Women’s Health (SWH) Conference, one of the biggest health conferences in Rochester hosted by WXXI, go on sale Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 9 a.m. WXXI will host the sixth annual women’s health conference at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center on Friday, September 19, 2008. This year’s theme invites women to discover their everyday super heroes. One thousand tickets will be available for purchase by phone at 454-6300 or 1-800-295-WXXI, or online at <WXXI.org/swh>. Individual tickets are priced at $35 and include a continental breakfast, two national keynote speaker presentations, 18 breakout sessions on a variety of health topics and women’s issues, free health screenings, lunch and a gift bag full of treats from national and local sponsors. Last year tickets for the event sold out in 35 minutes, so people are encouraged to call early.
New this year is the Super Heroes Package priced at $500, which includes 10 conference tickets, reserved seating, recognition in the program book, and two VIP passes to a reception the night before the conference where guests will meet the national speakers, local speakers and sponsors - plus all that the $35 ticket offers.
This year’s breakout session topics include: Heart Health, Zumba, Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis, Car Safety, Health Care Communications, Health and Beauty, Teen Pelvic Health, Stroke, Breast Health, Cosmetic Enhancement, Diet & Nutrition, Bariatrics, Sleep Disorders, Self Help Tools for the Caregiver, Self Defense/Self Awareness and Feng Shui.
The morning keynote speaker is Cammy Derking, who will inspire, encourage and motivate you to “Discover Your Everyday Super Heroes!” Derking will share with you the qualities super heroes possess. The luncheon portion of the program, emceed by 13WHAM TV’s Ginny Ryan, will include the presentation of the Pinny Cooke Award, an annual award given to a women in recognition of her community service and responsibility in honor of the late New York Assemblywoman Pinny Cooke. The program will also announce the Pat Andrus Community Investment Award, which supports a non-profit community based organization that works to improve the lives of women. This award is named after the late Pat Andrus, who was a long-time, dedicated volunteer and supporter of WXXI and the Speaking of Women’s Health Conference. The afternoon keynote speaker is Evelyn Resh, a Clinical specialist and educator in women’s health and sexuality at Canyon Ranch in the Berkshires and a certified nurse midwife9. Resh takes a fresh, lively approach to sexuality, spiritual aspects of sexual fulfillment, incontinence management, healthy pregnancy and childbirth.
