WXXI PROVIDES CONTINUOUS ELECTION NIGHT COVERAGE
(Rochester, New York) October 29, 2010 – WXXI will provide continuous coverage on Election Night, Tuesday, November 2. Beginning at 8 p.m. on AM1370/FM-HD91.5-2 and streamed online at WXXI.org 1370 Connection’s Bob Smith and WXXI’s Center for Public Affairs News Director Julie Philipp will be in studio to provide results and analysis on local races, while WXXI reporters Carlet Cleare (Monroe County Dem HQ), Zack Seward (Monroe County GOP HQ), and Helene Biandudi will be reporting on local New York Senate and Assembly races, and getting community reaction. WXXI Capitol Bureau Correspondent Karen DeWitt, WXXI Innovation Trail Editor Rachel Ward, New York Now host Matt Ryan, and WXXI Multimedia Engagement Director Steve Dawe will provide additional coverage throughout the evening. NPR will also be providing extensive coverage and analysis on national races of interest.
Hourly election updates from Smith and Philipp will also air on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable1011/cable11) from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., followed by a PBS NewsHour election special from 11 p.m. to midnight on WXXI-TV/HD and on WXXI-WORLD (DT21.2/cable 524). In addition, PBS NewsHour will be streaming special election coverage from 10 p.m. to midnight on WXXI.org.
Results can also be found at WXXI.org/election. WXXI’s election site includes an election guide, which lists all candidates from area races, district maps, and online video messages from candidates – made possible through WXXI’s Candidate Free Air Time initiative.
On Wednesday, November 3 from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on AM 1370/WRUR-FM88.5/FM-HD91.5-2 during Morning Edition listeners can hear the full election results, plus recorded interviews with analysts, candidates, and community leaders.
