WXXI HOSTS NEW YORK STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY ELECTION VOICE OF THE VOTER DEBATE ON AUGUST 31
(Rochester, New York) August 23, 2010 – WXXI Public Broadcasting will host an hour-long debate among the candidates running in the New York State Attorney General Democratic primary election on Tuesday, August 31 at WXXI Studios (280 State Street, Rochester). In what could possibly be their only upstate New York appearance, candidates Richard Brodsky, Sean Coffey, Eric Dinallo, Kathleen Rice and Eric Schneiderman have been invited to come together to present their platforms. The debate will air live on Tuesday, August 31 at 7 p.m. on AM 1370/FM-HD 91.5-2 and WXXI-WORLD (DT21.2/cable 524) and stream at WXXI.org. It will air on WXXI-TV (DT 21.1/cable 1011 and 11) two hours later at 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
In addition to being aired on AM 1370, WXXI-WORLD and WXXI-TV, the debate will be offered to all public television and radio stations across New York State.
WXXI News Director Julie Philipp will moderate the debate. Panelists will include WXXI's Bob Smith, Democrat & Chronicle’s Jill Terreri, and 13 WHAM TV's Sean Carroll.
WXXI’s weekly news and public affairs program, Need to Know Rochester, will present a recap of the debate with analysis in a special segment to air on Friday, September 3 at 8:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV. The debate will also be featured on New York Now, apublic affairs program featuring news, interviews and analysis from the Capitol, which will air on WXXI-TV on Friday, September 3 at 10:30 p.m.

Primary elections will be held in New York on Tuesday, September 14.
