WXXI REMEMBERS THE LATE GILBERT G. McCURDY WITH A SPECIAL BROADCAST OF AN ARCHIVED PROGRAM FEATURING McCURDY

Rochester, New York (February 23, 2010) – In memory of Gilbert  G.
McCurdy, who passed away on Tuesday, February, 16, 2010 at the age of
87, WXXI will air an archived episode of "The Rochester I
Know" series featuring Mr. McCurdy. "The Rochester I Know:
Gilbert G. McCurdy" airs Saturday, February 27 at 5:30 p.m. on
WXXI-TV (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11).

In the half-hour episode, taped on November 10, 1983, Mr. McCurdy
reminisces about growing up on Barrington Street in Rochester,
attending School No. 23, and taking the Park Avenue trolley. He also
shares stories about his grandfather and father, the opening of
McCurdy’s department stores and Midtown Plaza, and his work as
chairman and chief operating officer of the family business.

"The Rochester I Know," produced by WXXI, was a weekly
series recorded in the 1980s that featured Rochester citi rounting fascinating
anecdotes about Rochester.
