WXXI BRINGS SUPER WHY TO THE MAPLEWOOD ROSE FESTIVAL
Rochester, New York (June 2, 2010) – WXXI is bringing Super Why, the star of the PBS Kids series SUPER WHY, to the Maplewood Rose Weekend Festival June 19 and June 20. Families are encouraged to visit WXXI’s booth, where parents can take pictures of their kids with Super Why, and kids can participate in craft activities, screen an episode of the show, and enter a special giveaway.
The Maplewood Rose Weekend Festival, sponsored by the Maplewood Neighborhood Association, and the City of Rochester, is located at the corner of Lake and Driving Park Avenues, and runs Saturday, June 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and June 20 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
SUPER WHY, which airs weekdays at 9 a.m. and 12 noon on WXXI-TV (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11), is a preschool series that focuses on the adventures of four fairytale friends who transform into reading-powered superheroes, known as the "Super Readers". With a breakthrough interactive approach to reading education, classic fairytales with an innovative preschool twist and colorful and empowering young heroes, SUPER WHY is the only preschool series created to help kids learn the fundamentals of reading through interactive storybook adventures.
SUPER WHY is part of PBS KIDS Raising Readers, focused on helping children learn to read, and is funded by a cooperative agreement of the U.S. Department of Education, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and PBS.
