WXXI PROVIDES SPECIAL ELECTION COVERAGE ON AIR AND ONLINE
(Rochester, New York) October 15, 2010 – WXXI Public Broadcasting Council brings Rochesterians some of the most important debates of the political season, including the New York State Gubernatorial Debate on Monday, October 18 at 7 p.m. on AM 1370. In addition to broadcasting the Gubernatorial debate, WXXI will be producing the only New York State Legislature debates in Rochester. (A complete schedule of those debates is below.)
As part of its commitment to keeping the Rochester community informed about the candidates and races, WXXI also continues its Candidate Free Airtime, which gives political candidates the opportunity to record and deliver their messages directly to voters, free of charge. Messages from participating candidates will begin airing on Monday, October 25 on AM 1370 during Morning Edition (6 a.m. to 10 a.m.) and run through Monday, November 1. The 2-minute messages, recorded at WXXI’s studios, are also posted online at WXXI.org/election/cfat (beginning October 25).

New York State Gubernatorial Debate
Monday, October 18 at 7 p.m. on AM 1370/AM-HD 91.5-2
All seven candidates are scheduled to debate: Attorney General Andrew Cuomo (D), Carl Paladino (R), Kristin Davis (Anti-Prohibition), Charles Barron (Freedom), Howie Hawkins (Green), Warren Redlich (Libertarian), and Jimmy McMillan (Rent Is Too Damn High)
Voice of the Voter: New York State Assembly 130 Debate
Friday, October 22 at 8:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11)
Democrat David Nachbar and Republican Assembly candidate Sean Hanna participate in a Voice of the Voter debate. WXXI News Director Julie Philipp will moderate.
Repeats: Saturday, October 23 at 6:30 p.m. on AM 1370/AM-HD 91.5-2 and Sunday, October 24 at 12:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD.

Voice of the Voter: 29th Congressional District Debate
Tuesday, October 26 at 7 p.m. on AM 1370/AM-HD 91.5-2
Republican Tom Reed and Democrat Matt Zeller will participate in this Voice of the Voter debate, held at Nazareth College and moderated by 13 WHAM’s Edward Moody.
Voice of the Voter: NYS Assembly 131 Debate
Friday, October 29 at 8:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD (DT 21.1/cable 1011 and 11)
Democrat Harry Bronson and Republican Kenneth Krause will participate in a Voice the Voter debate for the NYS Assembly 131. WXXI News Director Julie Philipp will moderate.
