Rochester, New York (April 12, 2012) – The WXXI Online Auction opens Saturday, April 14th at with more than 5,000 items up for bid. A 2012 Ford Fiesta SE from Shepard Ford, food and wine certificates, town packages, and original artwork from featured artists Jim Christy and Laura Wilder are just some of the merchandise up for auction, and will be featured in the televised WXXI Auction Kick-Off Special, airing Saturday, April 14 at 8 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11).

New this year, WXXI presents Daily Deals, fifteen of the most coveted Auction items that start at just $1. Daily Deals include the Apple iPad, Xerox Rochester International Jazz Fest tickets, a $500 Wegmans gift card, and dinner with Lidia Bastinaich. WXXI will unveil these Daily Deals online and on our air each day, and will close the bidding nightly at 10.

WXXI Auction Kick-Off Special will encore, and two additional episodes that feature even more merchandise will air between April 18th and 28th on WXXI-TV/HD, as well as on WXXI-WORLD (DT21.2/cable 524) and WXXI-CREATE (DT21.3/cable 433). For a complete schedule, visit

Proceeds from WXXI’s Online Auction support the quality programs and services the station provides to the Rochester community, including PBS and NPR programming; locally produced documentaries such as Restoring a Masterpiece: The Renovation of the Eastman Theatre and Memories of Midtown; locally produced TV series such as Second Opinion, Homework Hotline, and New York Wine & Table; and radio series like Fascinatin’ Rhythm and With Heart and Voice; WXXI's Educational Video Library service, VITAL; and outreach initiatives such as teacher workshops, community forums, and film screenings.
