WXXI TV and Radio Present Special Jazz Reports and Programming June 22-30

(Rochester, New York) June 14, 2012 –WXXI will film three Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival (XRIJF) performances at Kilbourn Hall as part of its 2012 XEROX ROCHESTER INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL series, which will premiere Summer 2013 on WXXI-TV/HD, and on PBS stations across the country. The tapings will include: Terence Blanchard Quintet on Monday, June 25 at 6 p.m., Eliane Elias Brasileira Quartet on Wednesday, June 27 at 6 p.m., and Raul Midon on Saturday, June 30 at 6 p.m. This will be WXXI’s fifth year taping the series, which has been seen by more than three million viewers across the country. In addition to being on-site for the filming, WXXI will present special XRIJF news coverage and jazz programming throughout the nine-day event. A list of programs and descriptions are below. 6/22, 6/26-29 – Jazz Break on AM 1370 and WRUR-FM 88.5 during Morning Edition
Morning Edition will feature Jazz Breaks each weekday at 8:35 a.m. with Morning Edition host Alex Crichton and Open Tunings' host Scott Regan. Alex and Scott will chat about what's going on around the festival, performance reviews, and things that caught Scott's eye — and ears.

6/22, 6/25-29  – Jazz Preview on AM 1370 and WRUR-FM 88.5 during All Things Considered
All Things Considered host Helene Biandudi will talk with WXXI reporters live from Jazz Street  each night for a preview of each evening’s events during All Things Considered at 5:50 p.m.

6/22, 6/25-29 – 1370 Connection Specials and Jazz News Reports on AM 1370 and WRUR-FM 88.5
Host Bob Smith will feature jazz-related guests throughout the Festival, weekdays from 12      p.m. – 2 p.m. WXXI News Team will present feature reports on the Jazz Fest throughout the week, which will air during Morning Edition (between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m.) and All Things Considered (4 p.m. and 6 p.m.)

6/22, 6/25-29 – WRUR-FM 88 shows play lots of Jazz
Open Tunings with Scott Regan, airing weekdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Mystery Train, airing Wednesday at 6 p.m., and Gumbo Variations, airing Thursdays at 6 p.m., will play lots of jazz!

6/22, 6/25-29 – Classical 91.5 has the Jazz fever, too
Throughout the period of the XRIJF, Classical 91.5 will pay tribute to the Jazz Fest by presenting classical music influenced by jazz, and artists, such as Wynton Marsalis, that intersect both the jazz and classical worlds
