The Little Theatre and Writers & Books Present Authors Aloud! with Authors David White and Len Messineo on March 5th Rochester, NY (February 26, 2013) — The Little Theatre and Writers & Books kick off their Authors Aloud! reading series with authors David White and Len Messineo on Tuesday, March 5 from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Little Theatre Café. Authors Aloud!, a monthly series where two area authors read and discuss their work, is free and open to the public. Author of The Hairy Lollipop and Other Poems, David White holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from Cornell University and teaches at St. John Fisher College. His main area of research is Bishop Butler, and his new edition of the Works of Bishop Butler was published last year by the University of Rochester Press. A past president of the New York State Philosophical Association, White has been an organizer of Philosophy Day at UNESCO on the Fisher campus for the past four years. He maintains a website dedicated to Bishop Butler Studies, and hosts the Bertrand Russell Society meetings at Writers & Books where he has taught classes on Sherlock Holmes, Moby Dick, and Inherit the Wind. Len Messineo has published fiction in Shenandoah, The Sun, Tennessee Review, Rosebud, Midwest Quarterly, and many others. His short stories have twice been nominated for inclusion in the Pushcart Prize Stories, and one of his plays was selected for Geva Theatre’s Regional Playwrights Festival. He has been teaching at Writers & Books for many years. Messineo earned his MFA from Wichita State University and his MA in playwriting and directing from St. Louis University.
