WXXI HOSTS A FREE PREVIEW SCREENING OF MAKERS: WOMEN WHO MAKE AMERICA AND PANEL DISCUSSION ON FEBRUARY 11 AT THE LITTLE THEATRE
(Rochester, New York) January 31, 2013 – WXXI hosts a free preview screening of Makers: Women Who Make America, a film that shares the stories of exceptional women whose pioneering contributions continue to shape the world in which we live, on Monday, February 11 at 7 p.m. at the Little Theatre. Following the screening will be a panel discussion, moderated by WXXI News’ Carlet Cleare, and reception. This event is free and open to the public, but seats are first come, first served.
Narrated by three-time Academy Award-winning actress Meryl Streep, Makers takes its cue from the Women’s Movement’s motto, “the personal is political,” delving into the personal lives of its subjects. The film is built from first-person, intimate accounts of women who experienced this time of change, including movement leaders. Rochester's own Ursula Burns, CEO of Xerox, and the first African-American woman to run a Fortune 500 company is one of the many women featured.
This event is funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, a private corporation funded by the American people. Makers: Women That Make America airs Tuesday, February 26 , 2013 at 8 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 11 and 1011).
