WXXI’S ANNUAL AUCTION KICKS OFF MAY 21
May 18, 2005 (Rochester, New York) – WXXI’s Annual Online Auction, The Big Deal, kicks off Saturday, May 21 with thousands of great items up for bid including once-in-a-lifetime experience packages, fine art, sporting goods, vacation packages, electronics, restaurant gift certificates and much more. The live, televised Auction Kick Off airs Saturday, May 21 at 8 p.m. on WXXI-TV 21 (cable 11). The hour-long program will showcase a variety of merchandise up for bid. That same night at 9 p.m. WXXI-Q (DTV 21.3 or Time Warner Digital Cable 433) will air the Auction Blitz, three additional hours that feature even more items available.
Bids can be placed by logging on to wxxi.org/auction starting Saturday, May 21 at 8 a.m. You must have a bidder’s account to place a bid and can register for an account by logging on to wxxi.org/auction.
Shepard Ford, a valued Auction partner for the past five years, has donated a 2005 Ford Focus ZX4 SES to the 2005 Auction. Valued at $17,650, the Focus comes with cruise control, power windows and locks, AC and automatic transmission. Roycroft Renaissance Master Artist Laura Wilder also returns to the Auction with a new painting entitled Highland Park. Artist Jim Christy joins the “featured artists” circle with a watercolor painting that offers a bird’s eye view of Seabreeze Amusement Park and the refreshment stands which dot the lake road to Irondequoit Bay’s inlet.
Over 4,000 items are up for bid including: an iPod Mini from Mac Shack, a Canandaigua Yacht Club membership, a Wine and Dining Tour with VIP Limo from Constellation Brands, RIT American School of Craft course, an inclusive trip for two to London, and Penfield Racquet & Fitness Club membership and much more.
The WXXI Auction supports the many programs and services that Rochester’s only public broadcasting station offers including PBS programming, National Public Radio, locally produced documentaries and programs, GED Connection, Video on-Demand and much more.
