Sunday, April 8 at 12 p.m. – Music of the Baroque Holy Week
(Rochester, NY) – WXXI is pleased to provide a moving Holy Week performance by the Music of Baroque, Sunday, April 8 at 12 p.m. on Classical 91.5/FM-HD91.5-1. The largest professional chorus and orchestra in the Midwest, Music of the Baroque specializes in performing music from the 16th through the 18th century. For Easter, the group presents Handel’s Messiah, conducted by Jane Glover. Soloists include soprano Elizabeth Futral, mezzo-soprano Jennifer Rivera, tenor Jon McVeigh and baritone Chrisopheren Nomura.
The chorus and orchestra of Music of the Baroque comprise of approximately 60 professional musicians. Chorus members have active operatic and recital careers and many perform regularly, both in the United States and abroad. Many members of the Music of the Baroque Orchestra are also members of other leading ensembles, including the Chicago Symphony and Lyric Opera orchestras.
