(Rochester, NY) – WXXI proudly presents Leroy Anderson in Concert on Monday, July 4 at 12 noon on Classical 91.5/HD-FM91.5-1. This one-hour special features Leroy Anderson, America’s most popular light music composer, conducting and commenting about his many musical hits, including Bugler’s Holiday, The Syncopated Clock, and Blue Tango from a 1972 stereo concert in Washington, D.C., and a 1968 mono concert in Indiana. The final number of the program is one of Anderson’s greatest arrangements, 76 Trombones by Wilson.
Anderson adds other popular marches, such as Stars and Stripes Forever, The Washington Post March and The National Emblem March. This last performance is the only one not by Leroy Anderson and features his son Kurt Anderson conducting the Untied States Coast Guard Band. Leroy Anderson in Concert is produced and hosted by Kurt Anderson, the composer’s son.
