Friday, June 8 at 1 p.m. – Backstage Pass with Resonanz

(Rochester, NY) – Julia Figueras welcomes Resonanz, the chamber choir of the Rocheser Oratorio Soctiey to Backstage Pass on Friday, June 8 at 1 p.m. on Classical 91.5/FM-HD 91.5-1. Resonanz will perform songs from their June 7th Rochester Sings concert at Hochstein Performance Hall, which celebrated the centennial of Rochester's weekly Friday Sings. Designed to promote tolerance, understanding, community spirit and constructive enjoyment through voices lifted in song, the last Friday Sings event was on June 7, 1912 with selections from the Rochester Songbook. Artist director Eric Townell and members of the choir will share more details about these popular Friday Sings events, and why they wanted to recreate one.

Resonanz was formed in the fall of 2008 as a choir of about 40 voices selected by audition from among the members of the Rochester Oratorio Society (ROS). The group performs a cappella or with keyboard accompaniment. To date, Resonanz has prepared over 90 musical selections comprising holiday music, patriotic, folk and Americana, romantic songs and American popular classics from the past seven decades.

Backstage Pass is a live, hour-long radio series that is committed to highlighting performing artists – giving Classical 91.5/90.3/FM-HD 91.5-1 listeners the opportunity to hear local and visiting musicians performing live. The series is made possible in part by a grant from the Gouvernet Arts Fund at Rochester Area Community Foundation. The program will repeat Sunday, June 10 at 2 p.m.on Classical 91.5.
