Wednesday, May 30 at 8 p.m. – 40th Annual Viola Congress Opening Gala Concert

(Rochester, NY) – The 40th International Viola Congress (IVC) is coming to Rochester, and will be held May 30th through June 3rd at the Eastman School of Music. Artists from all over the world will participate in the Congress, with a range of music from works for Baroque viola da gamba to newly-minted compositions. Classical 91.5/FM-HD91.5-1 will broadcast the Opening Chamber Concerto Concert with the IVC 2012 Chamber Orchestra on Wednesday, May 30 at 8 p.m., live from Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre.

Wolfram Christ will conduct the program of Viola Concerti by John Dowland, Benjamin Britten, Nicolas Bachri, Hugo Wolf, Atar Arad, and Rheinhold Glier. WXXI’s Julia Figueras will host the live broadcast, which features performances by Kim Kashkashinan, Nokothula Ngwenyamam, and Paul Neubauer, and interviews with artists, composers and Congress planners.
