Saturday, April 16 at 8 p.m. – WXXI 2011 Auction Kick-Off Special

(Rochester, NY) – A 2011 Silver Metallic Ford Fiesta SE from Shepard Ford, a Sandals All Inclusive Package, food and wine certificates, exciting town packages, original artwork from featured artists Jim Christy and Laura Wilder, and a 2011 collectible WXXI Auction truck are just a few of the more than 5,000 items up for bid during the WXXI 2011 Auction. This much-anticipated event kicks off Saturday, April 16 at 8 a.m. at WXXI.org/auction, and runs through Saturday, April 30 with items closing daily. To preview some of the Auction's best merchandise, tune in to WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11) for the WXXI Auction 2011 Kick-Off Special on Saturday, April 16 at 8 p.m.

Individuals can register for their bidders’ accounts by logging on to WXXI.org/auction. Sign up for an account before April 17 and receive a free, one-year subscription to Newsweek magazine.

How to register for a bidder’s account:
1. Log on to wxxi.org/auction
2. Under the heading “I’m a new user,” click “Sign me up” and fill out the registration form.
3. Don’t forget to write down your user name and password, you need these to place your bid.

How to make a bid:
1. Go to the Auction home page (wxxi.org/auction) and browse through the many categories. Once you decide what to bid on, just enter your bid and password.
2. When you make your bid, click on “Bid this exact amount” and the bid will go through.
3. If you click on “Bid up to the amount on my behalf” you can use the Reserve Bidding function, which allows you to set a “do not exceed” amount for your bid.
4. When you overbid on an item valued at $25 or more, you’ll receive a $5 gift certificate to the Ravioli Shop, and a $5 gift certificate for Cabot Creamery.
