Saturday, December 10 at 8 p.m. Victor Borge: Comedy in Music

(Rochester, NY) – A new Victor Borge television special features his recently rediscovered funniest and most memorable skits — a truly unparalleled collection not to be missed. Included is rare archival footage from The Andy Williams Show and The Perry Como Show (not seen in more than 40 years), a classic hilarious performance from the Ford Theater with President and Mrs. Reagan in the audience and touching, heart-felt reminiscences from his five children of their favorite Borge routines. Victor Borge: Comedy in Music airs Saturday, December 10 at 8 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11).

Hailed as a child prodigy, Victor Borge began his performing career with a piano debut in 1926 at the age of 17. For eight decades, he was never out of the spotlight. “The Great Dane” of comedy, as the beloved international humorist and musician was known, Borge was celebrated around the world for his unique blend of comedy and music.

This latest special is chock full of Borge’s one-liners, falls, double takes, mastery of piano variations and outrageous stage antics, confirming him as one of the funniest performers the world has ever known.

Victor Borge: Comedy in Music features these performances:

  • Victor works with Andy Williams as a salesman for “Borge Pianos”
  • Beethoven’s Minuet in G routine and more from the Hollywood Palace
  • The American Folk Songs routine
  • The classic Timid Page Turner routine
  • “Claire de Lune” with a full orchestra
  • Borge plays “Born Free” — with a real lion!
  • Phonetic Punctuation with President Reagan and Tip O’Neil in the audience
