Sunday, December 25 at 10:30 p.m. –Straight No Chaser – Live in New York Holiday Edition
(Rochester, NY) – The acclaimed a cappella group Straight No Chaser makes a return to PBS with Straight No Chaser – Live in New York, featuring material from their EP “Six Pack” and material from their album With a Twist, releasted in April 2010. Straight No Chaser – Live in New York Holiday Edition airs Sunday, December 25 at 10:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11).
The performance features a mix of classic hits from the 1950s and 1960s, the Motown era, as well as contemporary pop hits with the classic Straight No Chaser twist. The perfect mix of 10 incredible vocalists in harmony mixed with the perfect amount of humor provides for both a captivating and entertaining evening for all.
With more of the energy that made them a national hit in their recent holiday special, the group’s trademark sound is captured in a show-stopping concert of songs performed from their With a Twist album track list:
Straight No Chaser – Live in New York includes:
- “I’m Yours”/”Somewhere Over the Rainbow”
- “Tainted Love”
- “Don’t Dream It’s Over”
- “Fix You”
- “New York, New York”/”Empire State of Mind”
- “The Living Years”
- “You and Me and the Bottle Makes Three”/”Single Ladies”
- “Wonderwall”
- “You’re My Best Friend”
- “Under the Bridge”
- “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You”
- “One Voice” (featuring Barry Manilow)
The amazing story of Straight No Chaser is one of talent, drive and some very good luck. Randy Stine thought he was just posting a clip for the other alumni of his college a cappella group to enjoy — a quirky version of “The 12 Days of Christmas.” But eight million YouTube views later, Straight No Chaser has become an undeniable sensation.
