Tuesday, January 10 at 8 p.m. Right to Risk: A 15-Day Journey Through Arizona's Grand Canyon

(Rochester, NY)Right to Risk: A 15-Day Journey Through Arizona's Grand Canyon, airing Tuesday, January 10 at 8 p.m. on WXXI-TV (DT 21.1/cable 1011 and 11), accompanies eight individuals with disabilities and their guides as they face the daunting challenges of rafting down 225 miles of the Colorado River and wilderness of Grand Canyon. The program is part of WXXI and Al Sigl Community of Agencies' annual Dialogue on Disability: The Herman & Margaret Schwartz Community Series, which is a week-long outreach initiative designed to stimulate community dialogue about the perspectives and abilities of people with disabilities.

Through interviews shot during the trip, the men and women, all of whom live with significant disabilities including blindness, cerebral palsy, paraplegia, quadriplegia, spina bifida and multiple sclerosis, share their insights to overcome prejudice and negative attitudes, maintain their dignity and assert themselves. During their life-affirming journey, they reflect on their adventure and affirm that it is every individual's right to choose what they are willing to do and risk in pursuit of their dreams. To learn more, visit: http://www.righttorisk.org.

Dialogue on Disability is a broadcast intiative that celebrates the amazing lives of people with disabilities. It runs January 8-15th and is made possible thanks to support from the Fred L. Emerson Foundation.
