Saturday, July 17 at 3 p.m. – Second Opinion "Fibromyalgia"

(Rochester, NY)Second Opinion, WXXI's national health care series that presents actual medical cases to a panel of experts to debate the pros and cons of diagnostic testing, interpret test results, and prescribe the best course of action, looks at Fibromyalgia. The Fibromyalgia episode airs Saturday, July 17 at 3 p.m., and again on Sunday, July 18 at 1:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV (DT 21.1/cable 1011 and 11).

Fibromyalgia describes a condition of widespread pain throughout the body.  Hard to diagnose, and even harder to treat, Fibromyalgia often leaves both patients and doctors frustrated. 

Panelists include: Lisa Harris, MD, Primary Care Physician Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics,University of Rochester Medical Center; Mark Hyman, MD, Founder and Medical Director, The UltraWellness Center, Lenox, MA, Author:  “The UltraMind Solution-Fix Your Broken Brain by Healing Your Body First”; R. John Looney, M.D., Professor of Medicine Clinical Director Autoimmunity Center of Excellence, University of Rochester Medical Center; Hon. Lisa Sluberski, Councilwoman, Town of Rush, New York; and Frederick Wolfe, MD, Rheumatologist, Director, National Data Bank for Rheumatic Disease.

Hosted by Dr. Peter Salgo Second Opinion is produced by WXXI, the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC), and West 175 Productions. Blue Cross Blue Shield Association nationally underwrites the series.

Second Opinion airs Saturdays at 3 p.m. and Sundays at 1:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV, and on more than 250 PBS stations across the country.
