Thursday, June 7 at 9:30 p.m. Chris Isaak Live! Beyond the Sun

(Rochester, NY) – Taped before a live audience on the Austin City Limits soundstage, Chris Isaak Live! Beyond the Sun – airing Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 9:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD (DT 21.1/cable 1011 and 11) – showcases Isaak’s most beloved hits. It’s also his personal tribute to the glory days of the legendary Memphis Sun Studio and the music created by his heroes in that famous room. Isaak recaptures the spirit of the original songs with his own brilliant band of stellar musicians, while revealing the heart and soul of his own deeply rooted musical identity.

Isaak’s Beyond the Sun album was released in October 2011 and is the album he’s always wanted to make. Deeply committed to the glory days of Memphis' Sun Studio and the visionary artists who got their starts there—including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis—all of them discovered and nurtured by the late, great Sun Records founder Sam Phillips. This album magically recaptures the classic sides cut by these greats at Sun with Phillips during the mid-'50s, while also getting down to the heart and soul of his own deeply rooted musical identity.

Joining Isaak for this special evening at Austin City Limits soundstage is Wanda Jackson, “The Queen of Rockabilly.”
