Wednesday, March 10 at 10 p.m. – Chris Botti in Boston, Part 2

(Rochester, NY) Chris Botti in Boston, Part 2 features the acclaimed trumpeter performing with a once-in-a-lifetime lineup of some of today’s most popular music artists, including Sting, Steven Tyler, Josh Groban and Yo-Yo Ma. These incredible artists join Botti and Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops to give masterful performances of material different from their usual repertoire. Filmed in high-definition before an audience at the same concert at Symphony Hall in Boston as last year’s acclaimed PBS special Chris Botti in Boston, the new special features performances that weren’t seen in last year’s show. Chris Botti in Boston, Part 2 airs Wednesday, March 10 at 10 p.m. on WXXI-TV (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11).

From the opening moments of the program, the trumpeter and his special guests keep the audience riveted. Highlights include Sting’s performance of “If I Ever Lose My Faith in You,” Josh Groban’s soaring “Broken Vow” and Botti’s soulful take on the Leonard Cohen classic “Hallelujah.”
Chris Botti in Boston, Part 2 includes:

  • “If I Ever Lose My Faith in You” (featuring Sting and Dominic Miller)
  • “Broken Vow” (featuring Josh Groban)
  • “Hallelujah”
  • “Cryin’” (featuring Steven Tyler)
  • “Fragile” (featuring Sting, Yo-Yo Ma and Dominic Miller)
  • “Indian Summer”
  • “Time to Say Goodbye”

Chris Botti in Boston was a follow-up to Botti’s 2005 platinum DVD and PBS special Chris Botti: Live . Since the release of his first solo album in 1995, Botti has created a series of recordings that have made him a star in the contemporary jazz and pop world. Through his singular combination of lush atmospheres and thoughtful improvisations, Botti has earned both critical acclaim and mainstream appreciation for a succession of best-selling albums, including When I Fall in Love (2004, #1 jazz album) and To Love Again: The Duets (2005, #1 jazz album).

In the studio and on stage, Botti has worked with such leading singer-songwriters and composers as Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Sting and renowned film composer John Barry, among others; as a sideman, he has appeared on dozens of albums, compilations and soundtracks. Botti’s association with Sting — who joined Botti on both To Love Again and When I Fall in Love — dates to 1999, when the trumpeter joined the pop legend’s band as featured soloist on Sting’s “Brand New Day” tour, which lasted two years.
