Saturday, September 10 at 12 p.m. – America's Home Cooking: Dinner for Two
(Rochester, NY) – Great home-cooking recipes provide comfort, economy and easy-to-find ingredients. They come from rich family and ethnic traditions, but they’re often sized to serve six to eight or more. America's Home Cooking: Dinner for Two, airing Saturday, September 10 at 12 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11), prepares delicious dishes in manageable portions.
Host Chris Fennimore invites some of his favorite cooks from the past 16 years of cooking shows to join him in the kitchen for this special. From classics like “Zesty Chicken Cacciatore” to modern fare like “Colorful and Healthy Couscous, Apricot & Pistachio Salad,” the more than 100 recipes in America's Home Cooking: Dinner for Two recreate the most popular dishes ever submitted to the cooking series but scaled down to fit smaller families and singles. During the program they’ll demonstrate:
• Cheesy Manicotti
• A Healthy Zucchini Stew
• Greek Style Chicken and Rice Casserole
• Baked Fish with Fennel/Pepper Slaw
• Creamy but Low-Fat Butternut Squash Soup
• Old Fashioned Baked Apples
Since 1993, Fennimore has hosted 16 national cooking marathons for public broadcasting. He currently serves as WQED’s Director of Programming and prepares dishes every Saturday as host of WQED-TV’s QED Cooks, a program that will celebrate the broadcast of its 100th cooking program in 2011.
