Saturday, September 17 at 12 p.m. – America's Home Cooking: From the Garden

(Rochester, NY) – Food co-ops, farmers markets and community and rooftop gardens have become commonplace in many American communities. Fresh, organic foods are replacing frozen and pre-packaged foods in many popular restaurants, and families are re-discovering eating home-cooked meals together around the dinner table. American's Home Cooking: From the Garden will show anyone who wants to use fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs from their own gardens or other community resources how to easily prepare tasty, healthy dishes. American's Home Cooking: From the Garden airs Saturday, September 17 at 12 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11).

America's Home Cooking host Chris Fennimore invites his favorite cooks to join him in the kitchen. They’ll help viewers prepare a variety of organic, wholesome dishes including:

• Zucchini Casserole
• Tomato Garlic Basil Soup
• Corn Fritters
• Grilled Asparagus
• Garden Tomato Tart
• Pesto Sauce
• Butternut Squash Ravioli
• Rhubarb Crisp
• Raspberry Vinaigrette

Since 1993, Fennimore has hosted 15 national cooking marathons for public broadcasting. He currently serves as WQED’s Director of Programming and prepares dishes every Saturday as host of WQED-TV’s QED Cooks. Fennimore’s blog, additional recipes and video may be found at: http://www.wqed.org/cooks
