Tuesday, April 21 at 8 p.m. – Let's Talk About Money
(Rochester, NY)– Studies show most parents don’t’ talk about money with their children and teachers don’t spend a whole lot of class time on basic financial concepts or vocabulary. WXXI and its financial literacy series for kids, Biz Kid$, is proud to present a live, one-hour special focused on the importance of economic education among youth. Let’s Talk About Money airs Tuesday, April 21 at 8 p.m. on WXXI-TV 21 (cable 11) and WXXI-HD (DT21.1/cable 1011). WXXI’s Managing Editor Julie Philipp will moderate discussions among a group of panelists, which will include a local credit union representative as well as financial literacy authorities from schools and businesses, and an audience of educators and parents. After the special airs, a podcast of the program will also be available found at <WXXI.org/podcast>.
In support of the live TV special, WXXI will also host:
• A special edition of 1370 Connection, which will preview and discuss the Let’s Talk About Money program. Scheduled guests for the radio call-in program will feature town hall panelists. This will air on Tuesday, April 21 at 12 noon on AM1370/HD91.5-2
• A special edition of Need to Know, which will present a segment on youth financial literacy and pull findings from the Let’s Talk About Money program. This will air on Friday, April 24 at 8:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD.
• Special literacy segments will be produced to air on Assignment: The World, WXXI’s national current events series for students in 4th through 8th grade. These segments will air throughout April. In Rochester, Assignment: The World airs Thursdays and Fridays at 6 a.m. on WXXI-TV/HD.
