A Holly Jolly Pops Holiday with
Barenaked Ladies is hip, merry viewing for the entire family – hear Jingle Bells as you’ve never heard it before!
Conductor Keith Lockhart, now in his 13
season with Boston Pops, hosts this refreshing holiday special. Barenaked Ladies – in a unique and unlikely compliment to the traditional Pops concert – perform their own variations of some of the holiday classics – God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Three Ships, Green Christmas and many more! Lockhart and the BPO round out the show with traditional Pops
holiday favorites, including:
Gloria, Hark the Herald Angels
Sing, White Christmas, We Wish You
A Merry Christmas, and everyone’s
holiday favorite, Sleigh Ride.
Founded in 1885, the Boston Pops Orchestra entertains audiences with a breadth of music drawn from many traditions. The repertoire includes light classical music and popular music – including music of the Swing era, hits from
Broadway and Hollywood, patriotic sing-alongs, novelty numbers - and music
from around the world. Started in 1973 as A Pops Christmas Party, Boston Pops
Holiday concerts are an annual tradition for families and music lovers young and
old. Keith Lockhart has been conducting the Pops since 1995. In that time he
has conducted over 1,000 concerts, recorded albums, and led the orchestra in
sixty-seven television programs.
The Barenaked Ladies are a five-piece Toronto-based band composed of Jim Creeggan, Kevin Hearn,
Steven Page, Ed Robertson, Tyler Stewart, and formerly Andy Creeggan who mix
socially conscious observations with crafty lyrics. They formed in 1988 in
Scarborough, Ontario. They are best known for their hit singles, One Week, Pinch Me, If I Had $1,000,000, and Brian Wilson, and for their
light-hearted, comedic performance style. The band’s trademark at live shows
is humorous banter between songs and on-the-spot improvisation.
