Sunday, December 13 at 7:30 p.m. – Kenny Rogers: The Journey

(Rochester, NY) KENNY ROGERS: THE JOURNEY combines a live concert experience with an intimate unveiling of Kenny Rogers' life story for a spellbinding examination of the three-time Grammy Award winner's life's work. Featuring hits such as "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town," "Lucille" and "The Gambler," Rogers' story is brought to life with rare concert footage spanning several decades and interviews with Rogers and his friends and colleagues. This new special is an intimate and entertaining exploration of an unforgettable and multi-talented artist and one of the great country music performers of our time. Kenny Rogers: The Journey airs Sunday, December 13 at 7:30 p.m.on WXXI-TV (DT21.1/cable1011/cable11).

KENNY ROGERS: THE JOURNEY seamlessly blends a new concert filmed in Indiana in April 2006 with classic Rogers performance footage from the 70s, 80s and 90s. The classic footage includes duets with Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Sheena Easton and Kim Carnes.

The concert footage is interwoven with comments from Kenny Rogers and some of the music industry veterans who have worked with him throughout his long career. These songwriters, producers, musicians, managers and heads of record labels include Lionel Richie, David Foster, Jim Mazza, Mike Curb, Ken Kragen, Don Schlitz, Mickey Jones and Brent Maher.

KENNY ROGERS: THE JOURNEY tells the complete Kenny Rogers story - from his beginnings as a member of the New Christy Minstrels and the First Edition to his superstar status in the 70s and 80s, all the way to his current chart-topping hits.
