Saturday, November 15 at 4 p.m. The World According to Google

(Rochester, NY) Beginning as a simple research project by two 20-something Ph.D candidates at Stanford, Google has quickly become the world’s biggest Internet site—a place where surfers from all around the globe go to quickly search for news, information, photographs, and videos. The World According to Google, airing Saturday, November 15 at 4 p.m. on WXXI-TV 21 (cable 11), takes viewers inside this remarkably powerful and influential internet company, bringing to light the company’s unique story, its plans for the future, and the complex ethical questions that have arisen along with its success.

Hosted by the “Father of the Internet” and Google insider Vint Cerf, The World According to Google shows how the company hires the best and the brightest in the industry, giving viewers a glimpse into their Mountain View, Calif. and London offices. The documentary also takes you behind the scenes of Google’s new business ventures—from Google Earth, a powerful program that allows users to view the earth’s geography, to Google Print, a feature with the ability to digitize complete libraries.

The World According to Google also explores the complex ethical and philosophical questions surrounding the company’s success. Even though the company’s motto remains “Don’t Be Evil,” critics have charged that Google is on the verge of becoming Big Brother—with the ability to track its users and make editorial decisions about the information it provides.

The World According to Google
is an in-depth examination of one of the globe’s most powerful and influential companies.
