ALIES: Find the lastest information about ALIES data trainings and manuals for reporting standards. NRS Online: provides adult education teachers, administrators, and others interested in the adult education program reference material and training related to the guidelines of the National Reporting System. Focus on Basics: is a monthly newsletter that focuses on the latest research and best practices in adult education New York Association for Continuing/Community Education (NYACCE): A professional association for adult education. Offers conferences and training events. U.S. Department of Education: Division of Adult Education and Literacy: The Division of Adult Education and Literacy (DAEL) promotes programs that help American adults get the basic skills they need to be productive workers, family members and citizens. The major areas of support are Adult Basic Education, Adult Secondary Education and English Language Acquisition. These programs emphasize basic skills such as reading, writing, math, English language competency and problem-solving. The National Institute for Literacy serves as a resource for the literacy community. The Institute assists in addressing urgent national priorities, such as upgrading the workforce, reducing welfare dependency, and raising the standard of living. The National Institute for Literacy site provides many forums and listservs that are useful to adult educators. The National Center on Adult Literacy's (NCAL) mission is to improve understanding of adult learning, foster innovation, and increase effectiveness in adult basic education and literacy work, as well as expand access to information and build capacity for adult literacy and basic skills service provision. The NCAL site contains information on research projects and reports and hosts a database that can be searched according to literacy topics. The National Center for Research in Vocational Education (NCRVE) is the Nation's largest center for research and development in work-related education. The NCRVE has played a key role in developing a new concept of vocational education as the Center works toward fulfilling its mission to strengthen education to prepare all individuals for lasting and rewarding employment and lifelong learning. The National Center for the Study of Writing and Literacy Web site provides information on completed research projects, publications and resources, and workshops. The International Literacy Institute provides leadership in research, development, and training in the broad field of international literacy and development, with an emphasis on developing countries. The site provides a list of projects and publications, a calendar of literacy events, and useful links to other international literacy and education sites. The System for Adult Basic Education Support (SABES) is a comprehensive training and technical assistance initiative for educators and programs. SABES came into being chiefly to help Adult Basic Education (ABE) practitioners further develop the skills, talents, and knowledge needed to provide exemplary educational services to adult learners. The National Adult Education Professional Development Consortium (NAEPDC) was incorporated in 1990 to fulfill a desire of State adult education staff to enhance their professional development. The NAEPDC plans programs and activities to support adult learning initiatives. The National Center for the Study of Adult Learning and Literacy (NCSALL) is the research center for adult education operated by the Harvard School of Education and World Education. NYSED GED Testing Office Contact information (PDF) Cómo Comunicarse con la Oficina del GED (PDF) New GED "Request for Accommodation Forms" Now Available: (posted 6/23/05) The informational memo and the general instructions regarding the entire testing accommodations process as well as all of the new request forms are now available on the GED Testing Office web site listed below. http://www.emsc.nysed.gov/ged/mods.shtml NOTE: The forms and procedures for requesting GED Testing Accommodations have been revised. The GED Testing Office will still be accepting and processing the existing forms L-15 and SA-001, and the procedure using those two forms will remain the same until September 1, 2005. Request made after September 1, 2005 using the old forms will be sent back to the candidate. New Information About the BEST Plus Test Transfer Program In order to administer the computer-adaptive test or score the print-based version of BEST Plus, test administrations must be added to the computer(s) you will be using. While it is recommended that you purchase and add test administrations to each computer you are using for BEST Plus, there may be occasions when you need to transfer test administrations from one computer to another. BEST Plus has developed a test transfer program for this purpose, and the instructions are outlined below. CAL recommends that you transfer tests only when absolutely necessary.
