Take the Homework Challenge!

Homework Hotline, the live statewide call-in show where students receive help with homework problems right on the air, Monday-Thursday from 5:30-6:00pm on WXXI and PBS stations across New York State. Designed for students in grades 4-12, Homework Hotline provides the tools students need to succeed with homework, and supports academic achievement across a variety of New York State Learning Standards. Teachers from Rochester Dial-A-Teacher take the calls and send them to WXXI studios in Rochester, where host teachers, who are experts in subjects across the curriculum, are standing by ready to help students work through their homework assignments live on television. The Homework Hotline website supplies a video player, games and information to help with those homework challenges as well. Also try the challenge to see if you will be an end of year show host and appear in the Homework Hotline Hall of Fame. Learn More

Raising 100,000 Voices

Raising 100,000 Voices

Raising 100,000 Voices works collaboratively with Greater Rochester local and regional organizations to engage youth from traditionally disadvantaged segments of the community in a “video voice” community education program. This youth-led approach fosters the development of a shared community perspective on the realities of growing up in our local communities and results in communication across a “generation gap” between those running service systems and the consumers of these systems. Raising 100,000 Voices teaches youth to communicate by making video shorts about living in Monroe County They work with youth-serving professionals and local artist mentors and to document their strengths and challenges by producing 3 minute video documentaries.
