Over the next several months, conversations will be taking place in our community. Key partners, The Upstate Chapter of the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) will assist community conversation partners in the planning process, mentor and pair NCBI staff with community conversation organizations, and take a leadership role in orchestrating the community-wide activities associated with the project. The Center for Youth http://www.centerforyouth.net/ provides free, confidential, and accessible services to youth ages 12 to 21. Services include counseling intervention, street outreach, a transitional living program, emergency shelter services for runaway and homeless youth, student support centers, a job readiness program, prevention education workshops and groups, youth development programs, and volunteer opportunities.
The Downtown Community Forum http://www.dcfrochester.org Since 1985 the Downtown Community Forum (DCF) has contributed to the development of a better informed citizenry by showcasing the diversity of opinion within the Rochester community. DCF gatherings provide an opportunity to explore important issues and exchange ideas in an ecumenical, nonpartisan, democratic and value-centered setting. DCF will host a free and open to the public screening/discussion of “Traces of the Trade” on March 24, 2009 at 6:45 p.m. and “Anyone and Everyone” on April 29, 2009 at 6:45 p.m.
Sector 8 Youth/Adult Partnership http://www.communityplace.org/ - a project of The Community Place of Greater Rochester creates and develops a community-based collaboration for youth and adults from diverse backgrounds and interests, working as equal strategic partners in a creation of “community” that protests, nurtures and supports the development and advancement of its residents, their families and their diverse neighborhood initiations and traditions.
Grace United Methodist Church – Women’s Group http://www.followmetograce.org/ - is part of the Grace Community Village, Inc. – a non-profit outreach ministry for families and children within the city of Rochester. The Women’s Group was founded over five years ago. The women who participate are encouraged, empowered and educated in a holistic approach to manage live stresses and discover the purpose in their lives.
