Day
Care Crisis
According
to a news release sent out today (Feb. 27) Monroe County Executive,
Jack Doyle said that the county will be able to restore the subsidies
currently needed to help low income families continue to receive
day care services. Just one week ago, 1,300 families were told they
would no longer have day care assistance from the county due to
a budget shortfall.
The County Executive praised Governor Pataki for providing funding
to restore the subsidized income-eligible day care slots in Monroe
County. The restored subsidies provide another year of assistance
for families to get back on their feet and reach self sufficiency,
said Doyle.
Doyle called the Governor the real hero in this announcement.
The States willingness to work with us and offer assistance
will make a huge difference to 1,300 children in Monroe County.
Need to Know invites one family, possibly impacted by the impending
cuts, to share their story and lawmakers who will discuss the future
of this program.
