Rochester Philharmonic Broadcasts

Brenda Tremblay

RPO: Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra

As one of the great American orchestras, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra aspires to be an institution driven by a culture of confidence, adventure, excellence and success. In that same spirit, award-winning producer Brenda Tremblay presents the music with enthusiasm and intelligence. This season, she explores the legacy of classical music in contemporary life with RPO music director Christopher Seaman.

Highlights from the 2007-2008 season include a performance of A Sea Symphony by Ralph Vaughan Williams with the Rochester Oratorio Society (June 2nd), guitarist Sharon Isbin’s moving performance of Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, and Ravel’s hypnotic Bolero. Listeners will also experience the Rochester premiere of Deus ex Machina by Michael Daughtery, a work of motion and pathos co-commissioned by the RPO.

In addition to the orchestral performances, listeners hear Maestro Seaman chat about the origins of the music, play excerpts on the piano, and tell stories from his own fascinating life.  Extended conversations about each concert are available anytime as free podcasts at wxxi.org. WXXI is proud to present radio concerts from the 2007-2008 season of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.

Host: Brenda Tremblay

Airs: Each concert in the 2007-2008 season will be broadcast on WXXI-FM (Classical 91.5), WJSL-FM (90.3) starting Monday evening June 2, 2008 at 8:00 p.m.
