The WXXI Auction has long been one of the most highly anticipated events in our community. Now in our 44th year, the WXXI Auction, April 14 – April 28, 2012 provides businesses with the opportunity for significant product exposure, while offering the public a chance to bid on a wide variety of high-quality merchandise for a fraction of the retail cost. Win-win? You bet.

In 2011, local and national businesses donated 6,000 items to the annual auction.

  • More than 2,500 individuals registered for the WXXI Auction.
  • Bidders hailed from as far away as London-England, California, Michigan, Texas, Arizona, Florida and Wisconsin.
  • Over 45,000 bids were placed.
  • A Daily Average of over 220,000 online hits were made.


What type of promotion can I expect to receive in return for my Auction participation?
The amount of promotion you will receive is based on the value of your item.  Although promotion levels differ, these broad based guidelines will provide you with an idea of the promotion you can expect to receive. 

Customary Items
$100 or more multiple of same item: (example-1 certificate value at $25 but 4 donated)

  • Your company logo along with contact information
  • Link to your company website
  • Color image of your donation on the Auction Web site.
  • Detailed description of your company and donation – feel free to use as much creativity as possible. This is the most important part in promoting your company and donation.    

Notable items
$250 up to $499:                                

  • All of the above plus:
  • Opportunity to have a company logo showcased during the live televised broadcast.
  • Guaranteed placement on the auction homepage. Your item will be rotated on the auction homepage until the item closes in the second week.

Featured items
$500 up to $999

  • All of the above plus:
  • Opportunity to be featured in on air log on spots on WXXI AM 1370 & FM 91.5
  • Your donation, along with other featured items will appear on the kick off program in the form of a scroll running the entire length of the broadcast at the bottom of the screen

Gold Star items
$1000 or more per single item: 

  • All of the above plus
  • 30-second video produced by WXXI that will air during the Auction and multiple promos leading up to Auction proper. This station produced video will feature the specifics of your product including the item, donor name, key features, retail value and will include a pre-recorded voice-over. 

 

Great product placement, association with the trusted WXXI brand, and the chance for 24-hour/7 days a week online exposure…all offered in return for your donated items! Plus, any item you donate equals a tax deduction for your business. Win-win. For product donations, you have the option of keeping the merchandise in your store, thereby creating walk-in traffic. Or, you may arrange to drop off your donation at the WXXI studios at 280 State Street, Rochester, NY  14614. Pick-up of your merchandise is also available upon request.
