Volunteers play a crucial role in the success of WXXI. Every part of the station benefits from the efforts of folks who donate their skills, time, and spirit to support public broadcasting in our community. If you would like to volunteer for WXXI, here are the areas where your help is needed:

Various events take place throughout the year at WXXI. The annual WXXI Auction is the station's largest fundraiser. Even with the transition to an online auction, volunteers are still the backbone of the operation: securing merchandise, writing scripts, photographing items for display, and mailing certificates and merchandise to the high bidders. It's challenging and fun!
There are also annual events like the WXXI Golf Tournament and Speaking of Women's Health Conference that raise valuable dollars for your local public broadcasting station. Volunteers make these events happen and while experiencing the fun of getting involved.
The Television Department needs volunteer help with opening mail and reading email from the thousands of students that respond to "Assignment: The World" questions from classrooms around the country.
There are approximately three television and three radio membership campaigns held during the year. Volunteers are critical to the success of these campaigns. The most important area is answering the telephones and taking pledges. We invite organized groups as well as individuals to be part of the excitement on live television and radio. The station is always on the look out for on-air talent to help promote membership.
Reachout Radio, WXXI's service for people who are print-handicapped due to a visual impairment or physical condition, also needs volunteer help. Volunteers read a variety of newspapers, magazines and books over a closed-circuit radio broadcast, giving thousands of listeners access to materials they would otherwise miss. Volunteers - and this could be you - provide a friendly voice to Reachout Radio listeners. Those interested must successfully complete an audition to become a Reachout Radio reader.
