in almost every major battle in the
European theater during WWII and
also treated concentration camp
survivors after the German surrender.

THE ANGEL OF AHLEM
In 1945 American GI Vernon Tott
helped liberate a small concentration
camp in Germany, and photographed
the rescue. In 1997 Tott responded to
an ad from a survivor looking for the photographer and Tott went to track
down this survivor and
others he photographed.
