Goals of Community Rochester
Community Rochester is an initiative by the WXXI Public Broadcasting Council that is specifically designed as a public service partnership to help non-profit, educational and public service organizations use television to advance their missions to inform, educate and reach a broader audience. We know that many Rochester area non-profits create important content, but do not have a way of effectively reaching a large audience through broadcast.
Our goal is to increase the amount of quality local programming on our four new digital channels, available off-air and carried by Time Warner Cable. Community Rochester offers us an opportunity to create new community programming in a manner that will benefit the audience by sharing the knowledge and content of many not-for-profit organizations through the Community Rochester productions and broadcasts. From cutting-edge technology to expanding services, WXXI is changing to meet the dynamic needs of our community. We see Community Rochester as an affirmation of our commitment to excellence and an opportunity to greatly increase the amount of local programming we can offer.
Community Rochester continues to gather momentum. We look forward to working with your organization to identify and clarify opportunities to create programs that will have a positive impact on our community.
