Voice of the Voter 2008

Economic Anxiety

Voice of the Voter is responding to the country's economic crisis by making it the focus of this year's project.

What is Voice of the Voter?

For more than a decade, Voice of the Voter has been giving thousands of area citizens a greater voice in local elections and political news coverage.

Every year, the Voice of the Voter media partners provide opportunity for local voters to talk about the issues that impact their lives, and to learn how those issues affect others in the community. We sponsor political debates, public forums, small group meetings, blogs, scientific polling, and other activities to engage citizens in the elections process.

Their opinions and experiences help shape our political coverage, as we focus on issues we know matter and avoid the “horse race” approach to election news.

Voice of the Voter 2008 aims to:

  • Develop participatory citizens
  • Strengthen relationships between people from diverse backgrounds
  • Build knowledge about important government issues
  • Directly involve citizens in the elections process

Who is Voice of the Voter?
