Through the Ready To Learn Initiative, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, CPB and PBS are partners in developing high-quality educational media and resources to advance critical early learning skills for children ages 2-8 to help them succeed in school, work, and life. This collection represents the library of teaching resources created under five Ready To Learn grant cycles.

Work It Out Wombats! An animated series for children ages 3-6 from GBH Kids and Pipeline Studios features marsupial siblings who demonstrate a way of thinking that uses practices, processes, and ideas at the core of computer science.
Lyla in the Loop: This multiplatform animated series for children ages 4-8 from Mighty Picnic and Pipeline Studios features a dynamic 7-year-old girl who teams up with others to use creative and strategic problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address a range of everyday problems.
Molly of Denali: The Big Gathering This short-form video series and interactive game features Molly and her friends preparing for a convention, inspired by the real-life Alaska Federation of Natives convention. Preparations, such as repairing a drum or figuring out how far each friend will have to travel involve using and creating functional texts.
What Can You Become: This series of shorts focuses on career readiness skills for kids while demonstrating how their interests and hobbies can lead to future job options and opportunities.
Tiny Time Travel: This series of live-action shorts follows and 11-year-old inventor and his best friend as they use their time machine to go back in time a tiny bit to solve misunderstandings and other problems in their neighborhood using social language skills.
Jamming on the Job: This multigenerational podcast from PBS North Carolina features the music duo known as 123 Andrés touring the country, meeting people with different jobs and composing original songs about those careers with the help of their magic BoomBox, voiced by Pierce Freelon.
The Plate Show: This comedy podcast from WNET for kids ages 6-9 and their families features Spoonie, a talking spoon, and Tongs, her sidekick, exploring cultures and foods around the world. They use social competencies in new environments, an important skill for the world of work.
Job Song: A melody about different types of jobs, like farmer and teacher. This resource introduces the concept of work and some of the jobs people can do to earn money.
Sesame Street Learning About Job: Elmo’s World Compilation: In this Elmo’s World, join Elmo as he learns about all different types of jobs like doctors, dog walkers, and more!

Support young children to learn how to be community helpers with PBS KIDS! These lessons have been co-designed by museum and educational partners and feature many of your favorite PBS KIDS friends. LYLA IN THE LOOP is a funny and engaging new animated series for kids ages 4-8 about Lyla Loops and her fantastical blue sidekick, Stu, who use creative and strategic problem-solving and critical thinking skills to help their family, friends, and community! From building homemade carnival games to creating a new sandwich for the family restaurant– Lyla, Stu, and the whole Loops crew tackle challenges with equal servings of humor and heart.

More About the Series:
LYLA IN THE LOOP, a funny and engaging new animated series for kids ages 4-8. Produced by Mighty Picnic and Pipeline Studios, LYLA IN THE LOOP follows Lyla, a dynamic 7-year-old girl, who lives in a big city with her close-knit family, fantastical blue sidekick Stu, and a host of relatable and quirky characters in her community, who use creative and strategic problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address a range of everyday problems together. The new series will debut in both English and Spanish.
“Lyla is curious and resourceful, and when it comes to figuring out solutions to everyday problems, she doesn’t give up, even when it takes several tries to get it right,” said Sara DeWitt, Senior Vice President and General Manager, PBS KIDS. “We know audiences will quickly be drawn to Lyla’s determination and can-do-attitude, and we’re excited to introduce this warm, funny, and smart series to our viewers.”
LYLA IN THE LOOP centers on Lyla and her family – mom Lydia and dad Louis, who run Loops Lunch diner; older twin sisters Liana and Louisa; younger brother Luke; and sidekick Stu, who always does exactly, literally, what was asked. With her family and best friend Everett Phan, Lyla tackles all sorts of challenges, from building her own homemade carnival games using repurposed materials, to riding along and lending a hand on the neighborhood trash and recycling route, to making a puppet show that recreates the Jamaican folktale, Anansi and the Goat. Lyla even helps her sister navigate the ethics of creating an art project with the help of Stu, showcasing an age-appropriate example of current questions surrounding the use of real-world AI tools. In every adventure, Lyla and Stu introduce and explore foundational computational thinking concepts, leading to some comedic disasters and creative solutions, all while helping others in their community. The series will support a wide range of learners, modeling flexible approaches to finding and designing solutions, and creative self-expression.
“Kids are natural creative problem-solvers, experimenting and investigating the world around them with joyful curiosity,” says Series Creator and Showrunner Dave Peth. “LYLA IN THE LOOP celebrates and encourages kids and the grownups in their lives to recognize those innate abilities and see them as a powerful tool to help others, express themselves, and solve all kinds of problems in everyday life.”
The series pulls inspiration for its setting from Philadelphia, creator Dave Peth’s homebase, and includes vocals by students from the public School District of Philadelphia in the series theme song, which was composed and performed by Grammy-nominated musician, Divinity Roxx.
“Finding stories and issues our audiences can relate to is paramount to creating the relatable world of Lyla Loops. When viewers can connect to and identify with characters, they’re more likely to absorb and retain the curriculum,” says Series Executive Producer and Head Writer Fracaswell Hyman. “Working with a diverse group of writers who share authentic stories and interrelationships that ring true is where we find inspiration, humor, and heartfelt moments that may spark new ways of looking at ourselves and our friends.”

Super WHY! is the first preschool series designed to help children learn to read through interactive story adventures. Each 22-minute episode features a team of fairytale superheroes who soar into classic storybooks and use their unique reading-based powers to find answers to everyday preschool problems. With curriculum guidelines established by the National Reading Panel, Super WHY! teaches preschoolers key literacy skills, including letter identification, decoding, encoding, spelling, and reading comprehension.

Each 3-minute episode is made for preschoolers, focusing on early reading skills.
Mike Pecoriello, a series producer from 9 Story Media Group, is excited to introduce the show to families. “The hilarious villains of the series wreak havoc and create problems that our Super Readers need to use their literacy skills to solve,” Pecoriello said.“But they can’t do it without the home viewer — Super YOU!”
These short episodes also include catchy songs — such as “Start with the Sounds,” “S is More,” “Spell It Out,” “Nothing Stops a Sentence Like a Period,” and “The Long Vowel Song” — that help kids remember the reading skills they’ve learned.
